🚔 Operation Spotlight - Keeping Young Drivers Safe 🚔
As part of Operation Spotlight, officers conducted a roadside checkpoint on Stoney Lane, Allerton, Bradford, between 7:00pm and 8:30pm, focusing on drivers aged 17-24 years.
During the operation, officers stopped and engaged with 20 drivers, providing road safety advice and promoting safer driving habits. As a result of the checks: Operation Spotlight forms part of West Yorkshire's Vision Zero strategy, which aims to reduce road deaths and serious injuries to zero by 2040. Young drivers aged 17-24 are disproportionately represented in serious road traffic collisions, accounting for around 24% of fatal or serious injury crashes in Britain. Each year, almost 5,000 people are killed or seriously injured in collisions involving a young driver. Through education, engagement and enforcement, Operation Spotlight seeks to improve road safety and encourage responsible driving behaviours among young motorists. 🚗 Remember: Together, we can make our roads safer for everyone and help achieve #VisionZero2040. #OperationSpotlight #VisionZero #RoadSafety #Allerton #Bradford #SaferRoads #YoungDrivers #WestYorkshirePolice
